Roe Sherbert

Roe Sherbert started his career at the age of eleven, mowing lawns in the neighborhood from one dollar to four dollars per lawn. After moving from Michigan to Colorado, he attended Warren Vocational High School for the Urban Horticulture program. Through the program at Warren he started his career with Gary Russell at Hiwan Country Club. He spent two years as the night waterman and two more years on the general maintenance crew, before attending Lake City Community College in Florida. During his three years spent in Florida attending college he interned at several courses. The Belleview Biltmore in Clearwater, Florida, Trenton Country Club in Trenton, New Jersey and the last being TPC of Sawgrass before graduation in 1985. Accepting the position of Irrigation Foreman with Dale Minshall at Arrowhead Golf Club in 1985 was his first big opportunity in the industry. Within six months, Roe was promoted to the Assistant Superintendent of Arrowhead and in 1988 after the sale of Arrowhead to American Golf Corporation Roe was hired as the Golf Course Superintendent. From 1988 until 1996 Roe remained the Superintendent of Arrowhead Golf Club and in 1996, he became the Regional Superintendent of American Golf for the Denver region with the responsibility to seven properties in Denver, two in St. Louis and two in Kansas.

In 1999 Roe was approached by Western Golf Properties for the position of grow-in Golf Course Superintendent of Heritage Eagle Bend Golf Club project in Aurora, Colorado. March of 1999 Roe started the Heritage Eagle Bend Golf Club project, owned and funded by US Home with an Arthur Hills golf course design. They started seeding the golf course in July of 1999 and finished in late September. With the golf course opening in July of 2000 for the general public. The community is the first of its type in Denver being an active adult community. The community is gated; all amenities are on the premises with a 37,000 square foot clubhouse, four tennis courts, a 9500 square foot practice green and an amphitheater. The maintenance facility has been completed and opened for use in late July of 2000; this facility is 8,000 square foot building, which sits on about an acre and a half.

Roe spends his down-time fishing with his dog Calli, visiting his 102 year-old Grandma in Saginaw, Michigan and the cabins in Grayling, MI and now will be planning on visiting his new grandson in Naples, Florida.
