Born and raised in Massachusetts, Sawyer became fond of the game of golf at a young age. Four years of competitive play at Barnstable High School strengthened his passion for the game. After giving it a go as a Pre-Med student in North Carolina, Sawyer followed his true passions and strengths. He attended the PGM program at Florida Gulf Coast University in the summer of 2014, and graduated in the winter of 2018 with a dual major: BS in Professional Golf Management and BS in Resort and Hospitality Management. Sawyer officially obtained his Class-A status in 2019 and started his professional career at EagleVail Golf Club.
After two successful seasons in the Vail Valley as a golf professional (PGA) and ski professional (PSIA), Sawyer decided to focus his career on golf. Sawyer looks forward to bringing a high level of customer service to residents and guests. He is excited to provide the club with his expertise, including tournament operations, golf shop management and instruction.
Sawyer believes that everyone can enjoy golfing. Instruction is one of the best ways to promote the game. Sawyer interviews each student to develop a realistic goal and path for improvement. His lessons are individualized to each student, considering their biomechanics, learning style and specific goals. Sawyer's goal is to simplify the swing so that it can be understood and repeated with accuracy. Students, who express a commitment to practice and play, find enhanced ability and enjoyment on the golf course.
